Another example why the immigration institution should be taken out of government hands (certainly Liberals' hands) and made an independent body like the Courts and Bank of Canada, objectively based on merits, economic needs and forecasts, skills (for an educated western country I don't understand how we are chronically told we have a "skills shortage"), housing, services (healthcare, policing), urban versus rural population reviews, etc.
