How the Government Run CPP Has Been Impacted By...Itself

As I was curious what the federally managed CPP was doing in terms of our pensions funds (yes, your and mine), in light of the federal "government" acting the way it has over the last term and almost six months, I found the public holdings of the CPP posted on its web site (as of March 2019).  Of the nearly $420 Billion (December 2019), approximately $4.5 Billion is invested in Canadian-only oil and gas, oil and gas services, pipelines and mining shares.  I am curious as to how that has trended since October, 2015 and will be reviewing that next (I think we all know).  Here they are.  For fun the SNC, Bombardier fiascos are included (Caisse de Depot owns more of the fiasco) and for context, the top publicly traded company is WSP Global, a professional services consulting firm (not included in the $4.5 Billion).

How Many Canadians Are Living in Canada - No One Knows

A proper count of how many Canadians living abroad/domestically is apprently UNKNOWN.  StatsCan simplydoes not have this count of people leaving for extended periods of time.  This respected economist's best estimate (Benjamin Tal, CIBC) is 3.5 million Canadians are living abroad - approaching 10% of the population?!?!?!

Apparently the data out there does not differentiate between tourism and returning citizens.  StatsCan does not talk to customs, so the information is not properly and appropriately shared.  (As mentioned, StatsCan has to rely on tax returns that have been filed to determine where a Canadian has been living - and that data is about two to three years old by the time they use it).

Mr. Tal's point being, as highlighted by a Canadian airlift out of Lebanon in 2006 of 15,000 "Canadians" of dual citizenship of an estimated 50,000 "Canadians" of dual citizenship living in Lebanon (the consulate knows?), should this many "Canadians" SUDDENLY come back due to a geopolitical event or shock (eg. coronavirus, attacks by a neighbouring country), what impact would that have on housing markets?  Even on a daily life basis - what about healthcare, pensions and other services?  None of it funded by "Canadians" living overseas for extended periods of time. Is it fair?

:Banned From Contracts: SNC Quietly Impacted - Not By The Federal Liberals, But By Quebec

https://business.financialpost.com/news/fp-street/snc-lavalin-subsidiaries-barred-from-public-contracts-in-quebec-for-five-years

After pleading guilty and agreeing to pay $280 million in penalties for FEDERAL CRIMINAL CHARGES, the Autorité des marchés publics (AMP) on Wednesday named six SNC-Lavalin entities to its list of companies that are ineligible to bid on public contracts.

Liberals' Self Claimed Prophecy of "Climate Change is Canada’s No. 1 Priority" Has Imported Professional Environmentalist Protesting Thuggery

Good ol' Rex

https://nationalpost.com/opinion/rex-murphy-climate-zealots-have-taken-canada-hostage-and-our-pm-is-missing-in-action

"...If 10 plumbers shut down a railway, or if loggers shut down the B.C. legislature, or if oil workers decided to “shut down Canada,” the RCMP and every security force in the nation would round them up, clap on the handcuffs and stow them away in a cell in a jiffy. But a few native bands, and the always available professional protesters who we have seen active since the days of the Seattle riots, decide to ride on the oil issue, and everyone in authority stands aside mute and fearful..."

"...By insisting for their full tenure that “climate change” is “Canada’s No. 1 priority” the Liberal government has stimulated the current rage that is seizing the country..."

Obviously Justin's Father Did Not Tell Him The Story of 1970

And your father did what again during the October crisis in 1970?

"...We are not the kind of country where politicians get to tell the police what to do in operational matters,” Trudeau said in Munich, Germany, where he was attending a global security conference..."

ironically, There Is Some Real Good In The Coastal Gas Link That The Environmentalist Extremists Want

"...He estimates that shipping LNG from Kitimat to China could reduce global GHG emissions by 60 to 90 million tonnes annually, equivalent to all of B.C.’s GHG emissions in a year and 10 per cent of Canada’s. Look at it another way: it’s equivalent to the total reduction Ottawa claims for the federal carbon tax...."

Although Not Fully Defined, The Demographics of "Canada's" Protest Group Are Emerging

http://nationalpost.com/opinion/john-ivison-canada-is-turning-into-a-mob-city-while-trudeau-remains-silent

And finally some media sources are starting to wake up to the realities and makeup of this group of mischievous protesting environmental thugs holding the country hostage.

"...Wherefore art thou Trudeau to sort out this mess? Oh right, over in Africa seeking a UN seat.

"...But a considerable number of “outsiders” are using the dispute as an excuse for mischief.

It’s impossible to know how many anarchists are at work. The U.S. website, It’s Going Down, has been actively calling for its followers to “shut down the ability of capitalist civilization to function” and has been promoting a campaign to #shutdowncanada.

Eco-warriors like Rising Tide Toronto are calling on its activists to fight actors in that city that “benefit from mega-extraction and colonialism”..."

Protesting and Mischief Thuggery in Canada: Who Are the Protesters - Does Any Media Source Look To Discover This?

An honest and genuine question - How many protesting are actual Canadian citizens versus say, environmentalists coming across from USA, or arriving internationally, international students jumping on the bandwagon, visa holders with no ties to Canada other than simply working here for a couple of years, vacationers/temporary entrants, etc?  Yes, lots of people siding with the First Nations and the Hereditary Chiefs.  From what I've seen from the interviews on the news, usually post-secondary age protesters (which may be reflective of the blind faith Liberal, cancel culture at universities today).  I ask because does it fully reflect "Canadian opposition"? Maybe it does, but the media does not fully investigate these parts of these types of situations to report the full story.  I would raise this question not just for the current protesting thuggery and mischief that is happening, but also to such past events as the red patch student protests in Montreal, G-20/G-7 summits, etc.

Cannabis: Valuations and Government Tax Revenue, Both a Farce

How has Statistics Canada been "tracking prices" in an illegal market ?

Also, with these revenues (and growing) compared to the market caps of these companies, clearly there is/was a bubble.

"...Ontario had the most revenue from cannabis with $217 million in sales, followed by Alberta with $196 million and Quebec with $195 million. Nationwide the sector pulled in $907 million in sales in that first year.

Statistics Canada has also been tracking prices since before legalization and has found so far that illegal weed is falling in price, in order to compete with legal shops. There is also an approximately $4 per gram gap in prices with legal cannabis selling for around $10 per gram and illegal products selling for closer to $6..."
