The federal government says it is reviewing concerns raised by some Tim Hortons franchisees about the potential violation of terms Ottawa placed on the Tim Horton's acquisition by Restaurant Brands Inc. (now owner of Burger King, Tim Horton's and Popeye's Chicken), a Brazilian-based company.

And in place of the formidable "Innovation Minister" Navdeep Bains (again, what does an Innovation Minister do all day?), his spokesperson made the announcement about investigating allegations that have flown in the face of the Investment Canada Act (as it relates to foreign acquisitions of Canadian entities, a "net benefit" for Canada must be assessed).
How will this play into the acquistion of Aecon by China's CCCC? The deadline, like the pipeline, has been kicked further and further down the road.
