How long Singh will be leader of the NDP? Let's start with an over-under of the upcoming by-election in Burnaby.
On oil and pipelines, he seems to be just governing by disagreeing with the other two parties...that have actually governed. Against Saudi Oil (and importing from other dastardly jurisdiction of the world) and against pipelines exploiting "home-grown" Alberta oil. So how as a leader does that bring any solutions to today's problems? It does not. Unfortunately as illogical as that sounds, that's what the NDP audience wants to hear, and they elected Singh on what they wanted to hear.

"...Asked about Ottawa’s spat with Saudi Arabia over human rights, he suggested Canada find another source from which to buy oil.
The Saudis provide about 10 per cent of Canadian imports, worth about $21 billion over the past decade. Other countries from which Canada buys oil include Algeria, Nigeria, Angola and Kazakhstan, none of which have been receiving awards for their progressive approach to human rights. Singh evidently figures we should ramp up purchases from those sources, and teach the Saudis a lesson..."
