I wondered how the photo op loving Justin complete with his everyone-must-admire-me attitude would fulfill the last outstanding one, and now we know.
As written previously on this forum, Pere Trudeau was known for: i) an underwhelming economic knowledge or care for it, ii) alienating the west though the Petro Canada formation and debacle, iii) deteriorating US relations (to the point Nixon is caught on tape referring to Pere as an "#ssh_le"), and finally, iv) cheekily did a pirouette behind the Queen's back that was caught by a photographer and she later saw his disrespectful attitude anyway.
Economic Recklessness: This time, Fils Trudeau straight out of the blocks paid little disregard for deficits even in non-depression times and ran on an election promise (yes a promise) of an annual $10 billion deficit. Here we are at least 45 x times that on annual basis.
Alienating the West: In crushing the oil and gas industry through various legal, approval and consultations means did not have one MP elected in the prairie provinces.
Annoying the US: Not just dealing with a volatile leader of the world's most powerful country but poking the eye of the beast by not only making inflammatory comments and reneging on things said as host of a world economic summit, Justin sends Freeland to say some of the most toxic messaging...on America's soil!
Irritating the Queen: This was the last shoe to drop and it was appearing like it would never happen, nor ever expected to happen. But the resignation of a Governor General is yet another black eye on Justin. How can such simple and appropriate due diligence on an individual of such symbolic and historical importance be so fallible? The question must be asked, how long did the Liberals actually take to vet her? Yes there are politically correct parameters and agendas to satisfy (it is an appointment after all). Not entirely his own doing, like his blackface episodes, but it has happened under his watch - irritated the Queen. You don't have to watch all four lengthy seasons of The Crown to know, like many of her family members over time, Justin has fallen out of her favour.
