How Citizenship is Viewed By Those Not Living in Canada: Ignoring Their Own Gall, Perhaps They Could Start By Reviewing Their Own Country's Citizenship Policies

 The arguments for an everlasting chain of descent and ancestry based reasons that could be applied to multi-generations that have never lived in Canada is ludicrous.  The chain needs to stop at some point. It is also frustrating hearing people from other countries telling Canada what it should do about its immigration and citizenship policies. She should look no further than her own native USA to understand how Canada could be behaving. Try making these same arguments to the US Customs control/Department of Immigration/IRS  and see how far you get.  

The flaws of her argument are: 

Arguing birth rates - it does not help when you have no idea whether your son will live in the USA or Canada. The fact that your son is at least two generations removed from being born in Canada, despite the ties and knowledge of its institutions, and lives in a state almost the furthest away from the border like will result in living in the USA.  And no help to birth rates of Canada. 

Ease of crossing the border - passports are for crossing borders, citizenship holds a right to vote and a responsibility of being an active, knowledgeable abiding, tax paying person of that country.  If her concern is genuinely crossing the border, apply for permanent resident status. And when your infant is closer to an age of majority, not 1 year old.

Unfortunately Canada is not free of racist examples known by many as a new "hatred" and many countries around the world face the same. It does not justify racism, hatred nor make it right. 

Canada's largest city of Toronto offers municipal services in 300 languages as evidenced during this important vaccination period. Canada's immigration and refugees acceptances are among the highest and most aggressive in the world. Not just on a per capita basis. Thousands of ethnic and race based events are conducted and allowed throughout Canada under the guise of culture.  Political protests for events in other countries outside of embassies are allowed whether peacefully or turned violent or involve such thuggery as defacing important and historic statues or defame the various institutions that are at Canada's roots as a country. Not a perfect country but hardly the signs of "systemic". 

Regardless of all this, instead of moving forward and encouraging Canada as one Canadian people to live better together, the Liberals have decided to pour a five gallon drum of lighter fluid on the cheapest portable barbecue on sale at Canadian Tire already chock full of an overflowing bag of coal.   Rather than move to a"cleaner burning gas" approach to racism, hatred the Liberals would rather blow the issue up in a combustible metal and carbon bonfire, carbon tax free, and ramp up the racist examples of the day in order to appear the saviours of Canadian human behaviour that may have some (suspected) biases deep within our brains.  Even so far as for Justin to so carelessly, effortlessly and recklessly point a finger at the physical  House of Commons and claim systemic racism throughout MANY if not ALL of Canada's institutions. However, this only applies to the Liberals' digital world of online. 

Now the Liberals will be telling us what racism, hatred are and what digital acts count in their legal views. Of course, it will never apply to a certain group of demographics.

Now, how many (pseudo) Canadians are recklessly running around thinking they are experts on the Constitution or quoting one specific clause when they are wronged ? How many know the actual physical copy has red paint spilled over it ? 

What about the Irish immigrants that were left destitute and to survive on their own after arriving on the shores?

What about the Acadians, settles, born and raised in Canada, that were told to leave and shipped south to Louisiana?  

What about the second class treatment of Catholics for so long in an Anglo-Protestant world early in Canada's history?

Trudeau has highlighted some of the wrongs that help his cause and voter demographic. I won't hold my breath for him to apologize the aforementioned items. 

There are a lot of tragedies in Canada. No history is clean and perfect. It's about time Canadians starting recognize all of these.  We do not have enough time in the school day to teach all of these, but let's start with a thorough and fair education on one of them. 

Otherwise why have a country filled with people who call themselves "Canadians" if there is no responsibility or acknowledgment of how we arrived at this point after 487 years of recorded history since Jacques Cartier.

The Needed Change Was Made, Now Where is the Acknowledgement? After Years of Claiming Offense and Concerted Efforts to Stop the Use of the Historic Eskimos Name...

 ...as well as a genuine, rigorous and sincere engagement by a professional club with limited marketing and political resources to right a societal, first nations wrong, the reaction from the Inuit is....crickets. The media, and Inuit, had been quick to throw Edmonton's CFL franchise under the bus for criticism of the prior and long time revered, proud Eskimos moniker, yet where are they now upon the change?  Especially and unfortunately after the timing of an announcement involving the horrific discovery of a mass grave from residential school days.
