During his time as foreign minister Dion was notoriously chummy with Russian foreign minister Sergey Lavrov. He was wildly enthusiastic about restoring warm relations with Putin, despite Putin’s ongoing war crimes in Syria, and Dion was adamantly opposed to the introduction of “Magnitsky” laws to sanction Russian oligarchs that every democracy on Earth has now suddenly and at long last taken on..."
