"...Kenney blames much of this on “historical illiteracy” in Canada. “Jack Granatstein (in his book Who Killed Canadian History) pointed out 20 years ago it was then possible to graduate, I think, from eight of 10 Canadian provinces without ever having taken a class in Canadian history.
“This is the betrayal of two generations, because how can people be informed citizens in a democracy if they don’t have a passing knowledge of how we came to be, of the development of our institutions?”
