One of the first things the Liberals did at the start of the pandemic was introduce a bill that would have given the finance minister extraordinary powers to tax, spend and provide loans and bailouts, without parliamentary oversight, for upwards of two years. Luckily, the Liberals had a minority, which allowed the opposition parties to strip the most egregious parts of the bill.
