Wylie Wednesday: Morneau Addressing Canada's Business Community

The Liberal spin machine is in overdrive again this time on the fiscal and finanical front. What two sided message will be sent that none of which will give any confidence to domestic AND foreign investment? With the election less than a year away, larger and more frequent promises (to be broken) were expected. May be the Liberals truly are out of ideas.

"...Trudeau’s finance chief, Bill Morneau, will unveil a fiscal update Wednesday in Ottawa that provides a shot at redemption after warnings about the country’s fading competitiveness. It will likely include incentives for capital investment but not an across-the-board reduction in corporate taxes. The government has frustrated some business leaders with an agenda heavily focused on social issues and riled economists by running unnecessary deficits. Morneau’s last federal budget -- which punted infrastructure investments in favor of new program spending -- landed in February without a mention of U.S. tax reform despite calls to keep pace..." https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2018-11-19/trudeau-seeks-redemption-from-business-leaders-in-budget-update?srnd=premium-canada

When You Do Not Recieve The Results You Want, Then Change the Rules...And Again

Once again, appeasing and bowing to the climate change "crusaders" and enviro-mental-ists, the Liberals are looking at ways to changing the approval regimes and processes...again.  Even though the Liberals have technically "approved" certain pipelines, they can now wipe their hands clean of all party responsibilty as the approval rules down the road have alrady changed once.

In the name of "stakeholders" and "independence", the Liberals in fact have their fingers all over the pipeline approval processes (and other large infratstructure industries), meanwhile appearing squeaky clean to those who only read the nearest copy of 24 or Metro for their "news" fix (their converted).

Similar to a street busking musician enticing his passers-by with a quick handed game of "where's the peanut", both domestic and foreign investment are left bewildered as to how this country wants to manage, monetize and heaven forbid extract the resources it has been blessed with.

And It Has Started - Ontario's Minimum Wage Rules Now Negatively Impacting Businesses

Feel good ideas garner votes, but then reality takes over.

"The owner says, 'It’s the minimum wage, absolutely. That will be an $80,000 hit for me, just in hours'"

When will Kathleen and her merry band of taxing, energy bungling and economy killing band of provincial Liberals wake up to the destruction that over a decade of Liberal rule has caused?

As "Diversity" is the Buzz Word of The Day, Eastern Canadians will Continue to Have "Diversity" of Oil Supply From USA, OPEC Countries Rolling Down the St. Lawrence: No More Energy East - Happy Now NEB?

http://business.financialpost.com/opinion/on-energy-east-trudeau-and-notley-faked-saying-yes-but-governed-by-no

"...Eastern Canada imports more than 750,000 barrels per day from the U.S. and OPEC countries. The Energy East pipeline would have carried 1.1 million barrels per day of Canadian oil eastward to Canadians at lower cost while increasing Canada’s self-reliance. Even if much of the pipeline’s oil were exported, it would still be an economic benefit for Canada with foreign-market access that would allow for greater diversity of Canada’s customer base for its oil..."
