Will the Real Canadian GDP Growth Rate, Please Stand Up: We Have Had Enough of "Sunny Ways"

http://business.financialpost.com/news/economy/theres-no-variable-in-the-model-for-nafta-ends

In a case of monetary and political, "he said, she said" both the institutions of the Bank of Canada and the governing Liberal party are to present their outlooks on the economy going forward.

The Bank of Canada, fresh off two rate hikes that surprised most, may have a bias creep into their forecasts in wanting to "justify" those curious hikes with a rosier but but lower end of the "believable" and "expectations" range.

The Liberals, on the other hand, will definitely be painting a picture of "sunny ways" using their Liberal math (please see past posts for past examples) to show that the MULTI-BILLION DOLLAR deficits are not that bad, they can borrow more, they can spend more, buy more votes, etc....until the actual GDP numbers are in. But by then, the election will be in full swing.

Two years into their mandate and two more years (less four days...but who's counting?) to go, the Liberal spending and spin machine will be engaging high gear as the countdown is on for 2019.

However, as noted in the Financial Post article above (and is not being fully appreciated by Canadians), two significant wild cards exist - NAFTA results and the housing market results.  Either one of these could provide a sudden shock to any of the forecasts starting tomorrow and throw all views out the window.

The language around contingency plans will be very important to watch starting tomorrow.  My fear is, there is not one.

Hello 1.0% GDP, lower dollar, higher deficits, stalled housing market, higher interest rates (they are not coming down), higher unemployment...

(Liberals' sunny ways term highlighted below)

More Morneau...Oh No.

Do you think he had an idea of where the share price was heading after his little love in with the media yesterday?

Coincidence Both Were Announced (To Overshadow the Other)? One More Backtracking Example from the Taxing Liberal Party Sprinkled With Morneau Conflict of Interest: That Makes Both the PM and The Finance Minister Hauled Into the Ethics Commissioner's Office

http://business.financialpost.com/news/economy/newsalert-liberals-to-trim-small-business-tax-rate-to-stanch-political-bleeding-2

https://www.facebook.com/AndrewScheerMP/videos/1759314834102261/

...And by the smirk on Justin's face, there is little regard for the Ethics Commissioner.

Backtracking or action from "consultations"? Let the (apathetic) Canadian voters decide, "...“When we made the commitment back in 2015 to lower small business taxes, we were very clear about one thing: we would only make this change after we took a look at the tax system. That’s what these consultations of these past months were all about...".  [Insert Justin's smirk, and things are fine.]

How can the Liberals take credit and call this a "tax cut" when in fact it was barely out of the consultation period as the Liberals were dragged through the mud and vilified for the higher rate....and not even passed into legislation yet!

Ah, the Liberal media spin machine.  The people behind it are good at what they do - cunning, bold and ruthless.

As mentioned, "Trudeau campaigned in 2015 on a promise to reduce the small business tax rate to nine per cent from 11 per cent over three years — but he announced in Budget 2016 he would freeze the rate at 10.5 per cent, cancelling in the process a legislated reduction to nine per cent instituted by the previous Conservative government."

As "Diversity" is the Buzz Word of The Day, Eastern Canadians will Continue to Have "Diversity" of Oil Supply From USA, OPEC Countries Rolling Down the St. Lawrence: No More Energy East - Happy Now NEB?

http://business.financialpost.com/opinion/on-energy-east-trudeau-and-notley-faked-saying-yes-but-governed-by-no

"...Eastern Canada imports more than 750,000 barrels per day from the U.S. and OPEC countries. The Energy East pipeline would have carried 1.1 million barrels per day of Canadian oil eastward to Canadians at lower cost while increasing Canada’s self-reliance. Even if much of the pipeline’s oil were exported, it would still be an economic benefit for Canada with foreign-market access that would allow for greater diversity of Canada’s customer base for its oil..."

The Justin and His Merry Band of Taxing Federal Liberals: You Know It Is Bad When Even a Left Leaning, On Line Rag "Reports" It Is So

Never one to highlight or source such amateur journalism rife with non-Canadian spelling, text message type grammar and petty themes (how many articles can you produce on food trucks and beer festivals?); however, this made me perform a double-take at my laptop this morning....

I have not heard of research firm MARU/Matchbox, so, for what the results are worth you can read below; however, the message is becoming vocalized rather than just conversations in the confines of home or whispering chatter around the water cooler.

"Almost half of Canadians think the Liberals under Justin Trudeau should no longer be running the country, according to a new poll."

http://dailyhive.com/toronto/trudeau-liberals-political-survey-september-2017

Now if we could only have the same company perform a similar poll for Kathleen and the Ontario Liberals.

...And More and More and More Liberal Scandals and Gaffes: Canadians Must Be Politically Blind

Failing Canadians caught in Irma, hasty marijuana legalization and implementation, bungled pipeline and provincial energy policies, on trial for meddling with patronage positions, egregious tax reforms backlash, uncalled for minimum wage hikes, a refugee claim policy created on the fly - a political party's scorecard after its entire term? Nope just another one day of headlines for the provincial and federal Liberals.

As I "opened" the online version of the Financial Post and National Post, I was welcomed by the no less than a dozen articles of how wrong the latest Federal Liberal policies are, what these choices are going to cost Canadians and just general scandal (as in Ontario and it's energy play thing the Liberals have been tinkering with to the tune of tens and tens of billions of dollars).

Either Canadians are 1) politically blind, 2) apathy takes over and they just believe the left focused media is always right, or 3) everyone is so wealthy in Ontario that no on needs to care (oh wait, what was that minimum wage idea the Ontario Liberals proposed?).

Whatever the reason, this ruthless, wasteful, over spending, lacking understanding of the energy industry, mathematically challenged group is likely to be voted in again.

Choose any of the following 14 articles for a mere taste of what is happening in Ontario, among "elected" officials...

Omar Khadr: One Too Many Apologies - This One May Actually Cost the Liberals

Will The Justin and his merry band of self-righteous, feel-good Liberals apologize for apologizing too much?  This time, was not only the subject of the apology a controversial figure; but the payout was an astronomical amount that reminds one of the phrase "does crime pay?"

Not only did the apology raise eyebrows throughout the country the wife of the deceased US soldier that was killed rightfully so wanted to appeal and block this payment, yet the Liberals, under the dark of night, handed the funds over already (unconfirmed, but where there is smoke, there is fire) avoiding any legal repercussions, and giving the US President real evidence (the opposite of fake news) to point the finger of blame, softness and unaccountability at Canada for the way it handles traitors.

In a country (in particular, certain provinces) where the Liberals can do no wrong, no matter approval ratings, costly green initiatives, massive energy and power gaffes, reduced military and foreign policy initiatives, never ending tax increases, ad scams, forgetting provinces' names (yes, Alberta)...voting Canadians every time drink the kool aid and forgive and forget, usually voting this band of incompetence in again.

However, this one Canadians may remember for a while.

China Moving in "One Direction" With One Belt One Road While Federal Liberals Are Taking Canada in the Opposite Direction

As China announced a monumental infrastructure effort that will require enormous amounts of capital over the weekend at its symposium (various opinions are out there on this program) Canada's Federal Liberals have decided that development, progress, infrastructure maintenance nevermind NEW infrastructure will be forever mired in studies and regulation based on their own interpretations of "what Canadians want".

The Liberals' election platform (remember that $10B deficit....for infrastructure?) may turn out to just be the deficit without infrastructure considering the extra approval body created and "where's the peanut game" of transferring control and veto powers to these various bodies (bona fide or not).

Their own infrastructure plans that they have sold to Canadians may never ever be built due to the Liberals view of "science based" conclusions and constant changing of the rules to have the outcome they want. That new subway line, critical bridge, new hospital location, additional university building or housing will have to answer to the bugs, bunnies and mice that may need to be transplanted or the carbon created put on hold....for the next election, or worse, new approval body to be formed to stet the whole review process all over again. The NDP may actually win an election by the time anything will be approved under the Liberals' new rules!

Liberals Spending Habits: Beyond Any Keynesian Economics and Helicopter Ben

In reference to textbook economics and whimsical economic theories (US Fed Governor Ben Bernanke)

...And based on the per capita daily figures you can add another 40,000 Syrians and 700 Iranians according to my recent MPP's newsletter for constituents.

How Much Does it Cost to Run a Provincial Government With the Lowest Approval Rating Premier?

I have had a very eye opening read reviewing the "Treasury Board Secretariat PUBLIC ACCOUNTS OF ONTARIO Annual Report and Consolidated Financial Statements 2015-2016", yes that stuff that every citizen, MPP and member of the media either buries their head in the sand about, ignores it entirely or just plain spins it in a very different view.

Here is the beginning of the answer to the question (highlights below).  All the juicy details at https://files.ontario.ca/volume1-eng.pdf

And Yet Another Liberal Apology: Minister Harjit Sajjan Does not Know What "Architect" Implies or Means In Relation to Operation Medusa

...which begs the questions, "what qualifications does this MP have to actually LEAD our respected forces", and " how was he appointed to this role"?
"Embellishment" seems to be a common theme among the Liberals. Including how the economy is expected to perform to justify the multi-decades deficits we are going to have.

Cracks in Liberal Foreign Policy (or Lack Thereof) Beginning to Show: Our Fearless Boy Scout Leader Claims it is Still Unknown Whom or What is the Perpetrator

After a swift move demonstrating the US military might by President Trump in the early days of his term, our Liberal party after claiming it was unknown the forces behind the latest vicious attack on the people of Syria sheepishly sides with the actions of their "closest ally".  Rather than debate further Hornets versus CF-18s, or contemplate the benefits of "diplomatic efforts", the Liberals had to speak from a text that probably made them throw up in their mouths a bit - the Liberals were forced to side with the unilateral actions of a contentious US President, albeit in fine Liberal style (calling the actions "limited and focused").

Straight faced and without any consequences whatsoever of his empty words, The Justin vowed that Canada, along with the United Nations process, would investigate and punish the perpetrators.

And that's your "sunny ways" foreign policy.

More of Justin Spouting Off: With Unemployment at 7.0%, Canadians and Those Influenced by His Comments of "Come to Canada" do not Need This!

From the left leaning CBC whom receives its billion dollar subsidy from the federal government (no conflict there, eh?).

And as unemployment in Canada sits at 7.0%, GDP hovering around a paltry 2.0%, and housing prices through the roof (no pun intended, but thats a whooe other discussion) this is still not enough to have an open, fair and professional discussion on the "sacred" institution of immigration in Canada. Annually, 300,000 entering Canada just because...it's a nice round number?

"The Kathleen" Should Look Over the Fences and Take Note of What is Happening in Other Provinces

Fellow Ontarians and Ontario Liberals,

Some headlines you would not expect but is is proof of elected governments DO NOT HAVE TO BE BOUND TO CARBON TAXES, EVER INCREASING PERSONAL AND CORPORATE TAXES AND AN ENVIRONMENT OF LAWS AND FEES THAT STIFLE GROWTH, while the only ones that "get ahead" (yes Justin, your phrase) are the politicians passing these outrageous laws and building these sets of head-shaking, stifling circumstances. In Ontario, it's time to stop the insanity (that is, Kathleen, you and your party should have been thrown out of office several political gaffes ago, and it is time to elect a group of trained monkeys that would have a better performance record governing the province).

In Quebec, traditionally known by ROC (the "Rest of Canada") for having a chronic hand out, is now on a path to having a balanced budget for the next five years...after three years of balanced budgets.
Quebec government balances budget again, cuts personal and business taxes
And in Saskatchewan, the ever feisty and refreshing Premier Brad Wall has laid down the gauntlet with the absurdity happening in Alberta under the NDP.
Brad Wall heats up spat with Rachel Notley by inviting Calgary energy companies to move to Saskatchewan

Andrew Coyne (National Post) Says It All: With Changes to House Rules, What Path are the Liberals On?

From Andrew Coyne at the National Post, an article that is on the verbose side but is a necessary read. The  last paragraph will raise eyebrows (see below).

http://www.nationalpost.com/m/wp/news/blog.html?b=news.nationalpost.com/full-comment/andrew-coyne-renewed-attempt-to-rewrite-house-rules-shows-liberals-are-not-to-be-trusted&pubdate=2017-03-28

"...If all this sounds unduly suspicious, recall that there is a context to this. After the prime minister’s insouciant refusal to admit fault in the matter of the cash-for-access fundraisers, after the charade of “open nominations” in ridings that had clearly been fixed to suit the prime minister’s preferences, after the elaborate fraud that was Senate reform, after all the broken promises on everything from the combat mission against ISIL to the open bidding on the CF-18 replacement to — sigh — electoral reform, the Trudeau government has earned no benefit of the doubt. Whatever short-term advantage these and other ruses may have yielded them, they came with a price, and that price is very simple: as they are not to be trusted, so they are not, in fact, trusted..."

Happy March 22nd, 2017: Another Dudget Day

In another of former Minister of Finance Joe Oliver's sobering contributions to the Financial Post, he has outlined the absurdity of even thinking of tinkering with the Capital Gains Tax exemption. This has various repercussion and would impact every Canadian directly in their own portfolios, savings, future pension values and the Canadian dollar...NOT JUST THE RICH (as the Liberals like you to believe in their smoke and mirrors, everything-for-the-middle-class approach).

As Canadians we have only one major tax-free vehicle to attain wealth.  That is, our primary residences. As we scurry under rocks to protect ourselves from further random lightning strikes from the sh!tstorm cloud filled Liberal skies, where will savings and capital go? To the last bastion of tax free relief - the housing market - which will only drive up housing costs even further.

The Liberals have been at the helm now for almost a year and a half with no more clarity on what the final deficit will be (except likely to be higher) nor when will be able to pay off (well, we know the answer is no).

Unfortunately when you mention "Liberals" and "taxation", it has more of a connection like "wine and cheese", not "oil and water"....oh right, the Liberals really don't like oil.

Happy March 22nd...Like Father, Like Son
